#FinishYear week 29

Life is getting kinda crazy and it’s starting to get difficult to find time to blog. I think I’m going to have to change up my strategy if I want to keep this pace up.

I’m posting an update on my #FinishYear goals every Wednesday ! I’m hoping if I keep it in front of me enough it will start to sink in. Want to know more about #FinishYear? Check out http://www.jonacuff.com

#1: I want to become a better youth minister.

1) I want to read four NEW youth ministry books this year.
2) I want to spend at least five hours a week interacting with and praying for the students at First Christian and their peers.
3) I want to spend more time in scripture, studying it and seriously thinking about how it applies to my life and the lives of the generation I minister to.

I (painfully) picked up You Lost Me again last night. I find that if I get into a rhythm of reading I can blow through it, but when I get out of that rhythm it gets harder and harder to read. The longer I wait, the harder it is to start. I’m still doing well on the spending time with students front – I think that’s one of the biggest benefits of being in full-time ministry. I was doing great on the scripture front, but this week it’s fallen through the cracks.

#2: Live off of 80% of my income, tithe 10% and save 10%.

I’m still not where I want to be when it comes to this, but it’s a work in progress. I’m getting closer, but I still need to work on this one. This is one goal that’s non-negotionable for me.

#3: Cut up and pay off my credit cards (in that order).

This one is being pulled off the list this week. I haven’t got my credit card completely paid off, but I’m on a very good track to have it paid off quickly. I think I’m too a place where I’m comfortable with this one.

#4 Giving more than I take

I’m trying so hard to make this one work. The harder I work on it though the harder it seems to become.

How’s your #FinishYear list going?
